How to use the site
  • Click a word from the top to make it active. It should be underlined.
  • Then click the start of that word in the grid. Then click the end of the word in the grid to encircle the word.
  • The selected word should be crossed out after this.
  • If solving a cryptogram, letters that have been solved will now show above each word. A ? means that the letter has been used for 2 different characters and at least 1 needs to be corrected.
  • To uncircle a word, click the beginning and end again.
  • Click the reset button to clear your progress.
  • Click the New Puzzle to select a new puzzle from the same or a new difficulty. Already completed puzzles will have a completely green background while partially completed puzzles will be partially green.
  • Click the Home button to return to the home for this puzzle.
  • If you win, a message should appear allowing you to select a new puzzle.
  • Click the Show Solution button right above this message to show the solution.
Scrambled
For each word in the word list, some typos need to be corrected. Some incorrect letters will be added to the middle of the word and followed by a backspace (⌫).

For example, the word "base" can appear as "bd⌫at⌫se" because the "d" and "t" are removed by the backspaces leaving just the correct letters. If you press those eight keys in that order on a keyboard, then the word "base" is the result.

Two consecutive backspaces delete the previous two characters, but there won't be more than two in a row in an answer. A correct letter can be removed if it is replaced by the same letter after deletion.

Words can appear in eight directions: forward or reverse in each of horizontal, vertical, or either diagonal.

Find the words "test", "home", "team", and "hair" below. FLTNMFWHPCEOLSNYAZGXXEMO WHWVUAYXW KLZYFSTDITEE AMRTREBRZTOP Hints: "team" is in the fifth row. "hair" is on a diagonal starting on the top row. "test" is on a diagonal starting on the bottom row. "home" is in the third row.
Cryptogram
For each word in the word list, find a scrambled version of the word in the grid. The first letter will be the same, but the rest of the letters can be in any order.

For example, the word "base" could appear as "baes", "beas", "besa", "bsae", or "bsea".

Words can appear in eight directions: forward or reverse in each of horizontal, vertical, or either diagonal.

Find the words "test", "home", "team", and "hair" below. MLTQMBESRENVAZOZTSTHJKQSPRAIHNDXHDRI Hints: "team" is vertical in the first column. "hair" is horizontal in the fifth row. "test" is on a diagonal starting in the first row. "home" is on a diagonal ending in the first row.
Backspace
A rotation cipher moves letters a fixed number of positions later or earlier in the alphabet. A rotation of +1 shifts A to B, B to C ... Y to Z, and Z to A. A rotation of -1 shifts A to Z, B to A ... and Z to Y.

In these puzzles, horizontal (↔) words will have a rotation of +1. So if the word "base" appears horizontally then it will be "cbtf". Vertical (↕) words are rotated -1, so "base" is "azrd". Words in a ⤡ diagonal are rotated +2, so "base" is "dcug". The other diagonal (⤢) is rotated -2, so "base" is "zyqc".

Words can appear in eight directions: forward or reverse in each of horizontal, vertical, or either diagonal. You need to use the appropriate cipher for each direction to find the words. Find the words "test", "home", "team", and "little" below. GAHRDOPOCLKZQYQLSRKXZJSSGNEUHYUFTUKZ Hints: "team" is on a diagonal starting with the "R" at the top. "little" is in the fifth column. "test" is in the bottom row. "home" is on a diagonal ending in the top left.
Rotation Cipher
Each letter is replaced by a different letter in the grid. Determine the substitutions and find encrypted words. For example, if a → g, b → k, e → z, l → p, and s → c then the word "base" appears as "kgcz" while "ball" is "kgpp".

Bolded words have exactly one matching pattern in the grid so they are good starting points. Once you have found one word, use the same substitutions to identify parts of other words. As you progress, the possibilities decrease until there is just the one unique solution for all words.

Several cells are left blank (.) and can be ignored. Each letter appears three times outside of words so common letters in the grid represent common letters in the word list, but exact counts vary as multiple words intersect.

Find the words "test", "home", "team", and "little" below. HAZDAYBVHZY.BC.HCLDZVYHZ.YZ.BCVYYLAACDY.BLBVLZZD Hints: "little" is on a diagonal starting in the bottom left. "test" is in the third column. "team" is in the seventh column. "home" is on a diagonal starting in the top row.
